Appraiser

An appraiser is an individual or other entity which estimates the value of property based on specific criteria in order to create appraisals.

Appraisers may work independently or they may work for government agencies, mortgage lenders, real estate agencies, law firms or insurance providers.

In some countries, a special license is required to legally conduct the duties of an appraiser. The position of an appraiser may, in some countries or regions, be a public office.
