Asset Manager

An asset manager is an individual or entity which manages assets on behalf of their legal owner. Asset managers decide which investment vehicles should be used and how capital should be allocated. They also decide when assets should be bought and sold.

The term “portfolio manager” is often used synonymously with asset manager.
