Hi there,
In Switzerland, all residents are required to have accident insurance. This insurance is provided either through a person's employer (occupational and non-occupational accident insurance) or through a rider on their compulsory health insurance policy (if they are unemployed). This insurance covers medical expenses resulting from accidents and (in the case of employer-provided accident insurance) compensation for loss of income.
However, if there is clear evidence to suggest that you acted carelessly, the accident insurance provider involved may not pay all expenses in full. In this case, your personal liability insurance will normally cover the costs which are not covered by accident insurance.
