If I fall seriously ill and cannot work for several months, will I still receive child benefits?
Hi there,
You can continue to receive child benefits for the 3 full months in addition to the month in which the illness began. If you do not earn a salary of at least CHF 585 per month after that, you will no longer receive child benefits. If you are married and your spouse is employed, they can apply for child benefits through their employer (or compensation office if they are self-employed). If you become unemployed, you can apply for child benefits as an unemployed individual.
