Hi there,
Personal liability insurance covers your liability to pay for damages to a third party or their property. You generally only become liabile to pay for damages if and when the third-party demands compensation.
So in your case, you should wait until your landlord or their representative either presents you with a list of damages which you are liable to repair, quotes from repairmen or bills from companies which handled repairs. You can then forward these to your insurance company along with your claim.
