Does legal insurance cover traffic rule violation costs?

The police are threatening to take away my drivers license for around 1 month after catching me doing 30 km above the limit on my motorcycle. I need my license for work and commuting, so I am planning on contesting the penalty legally.

Since I don't fancy spending thousands of francs of my own money on this, I want to be sure that the costs will be covered by my legal insurance. Are traffic violation cases covered by legal insurance in Switzerland?

As a general rule, legal protection insurance does not cover the costs of legal cases resulting from deliberate legal violations. When a suspicion of guilt exisits, insurance providers may withhold benefits until you are proven inocent - in which case some will cover legal costs in arrears.
