My Swiss girlfriend and I are going all out and getting married. I have a B permit and my taxes are automatically taken off my salary. Will this change after we get married?

Hi there,

In Switzerland, married couples are considered a single unit for tax purposes. Unlike foreign nationals working in Switzerland, Swiss citizens are required to complete a tax return. A withholding tax is not automatically deducted from their salary.

After you marry a Swiss citizen, your taxes will no longer be deducted from your salary. Instead, you will be required to file a tax return jointly with you spouse.

Best regards from Moneyguru
