Hi there,
A study titled "Aktienbesitz in der Schweiz" was conducted in 2010. Although it is now somewhat dated, it does provide interesting insights into the number and habits of Swiss stock market investors. You can download the study (in German) at this URL:
bankenbasel.ch/de/system/files/documents/downloads/29861_0.pdf
According to this study, the number of Swiss who hold shares (directly or indirectly) declined by 17% between 2000 and 2010.
However, the study also showed that the number of young adults (18 to 29 years old) who hold shares increased from 5% to 10% between 2008 and 2010.
It is also interesting to note that at the time that this study was conducted, share ownership was notably higher in the German-speaking part of Switzerland than it was in the French-speaking and Italian-speaking regions.
