I own a chalet near Montreux which I've rented out since moving to Zurich for a job last year. Will the money I earn from the rental be taxed in Zurich where I live or in Vaud where I rent out the house?

You will have to file tax returns in both cantons. The income you earn from renting out your property will have to be declared on both. You will only pay tax on that rental income in the canton in which the property is located.
