When I use my credit card to pay at stores in Germany and elsewhere, some cashiers ask me if I wan to pay in Swiss francs or in the local currency. Which is the cheaper option?

Hi there,

As a rule, having merchants outside of Switzerland charge your credit card in the local currency is usually cheaper. The exchange rates used by merchants to convert charges to Swiss francs are often very unfavorable.
