I love fish and have a large collection of marine creatures in a saltwater aquarium. Some specimens cost hundreds of francs each. Does anyone know how I can insure my passion? Is there a Swiss pet insurance policy that covers fish?
Household insurance covers common pets against certain risks, like fire, explosions, flooding, and avalanches, among others. It also causes damages to your possessions caused by leaks, though leaks from aquariums are not always covered. However, household insurance does not cover illness or injuries.
Damages to a rented home caused by aquarium leaks are typically covered by your personal liability insurance.
Pet insurance covers veterinary costs and may pay out a death benefit if the insured animal dies. However, there currently are no Swiss insurance companies that offer pet insurance for fish.
