Are there rules that say where I should store my will? Do I have to deposit it at a lawyer or the town hall?
No. You are free to store your will anywhere you like. However, due to the importance of this document, it is advisable to store it in a fireproof safe or a safe deposit box (at a bank, for example). Many municipal offices will store your will safely in exchange for a fee.
Informing your spouse, lawyer or another trustworthy third party about the whereabouts of your will is important because your will must be accessible after your death.
