GmbH

GmbH is the abbreviated form of the German term “Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung”. In Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein, the term denotes a limited liability company which is privately owned.

This type of company is similar in form to a private limited company (Ltd.) in the United Kingdom or a private limited liability company (LLC) in the United States.

In French-speaking Switzerland, this type of company is referred to as a “société à responsabilité limitée” or “Sàrl”.
