Latibex is a securities exchange in Spain which facilitates investment in securities issued in Latin American countries. The exchange uses the SIBE electronic trading system which is also used by the Madrid Stock Exchange, Barcelona Stock Exchange, Valencia Stock Exchange and the Bilbao Stock Exchange.
The Latibex acts as a secondary exchange for key stocks listed on Latin American exchanges including the São Paulo Stock Exchange BM&F Bovespa, the Lima Stock Exchange, the Mexican Stock Exchange and the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange.
All transactions on the exchange are denominated by the euro, which enables investors to invest in Latin American corporations in euros using Spanish brokers. This makes the Latibex an interesting exchange for European investors looking to invest in Brazil, Mexico and other Latin American economies within the framework of an exchange and brokers which are regulated in a Eurozone country and without losing money on unfavorable exchange rates.
The FTSE Latibex All-Share Index tracks the performance of stocks listed on the Latibex.
