Netflix is the most widely-used paid streaming service in Switzerland. And although Netflix is already the most expensive streaming service, it has decided to raise its prices once again.
Overview of Netflix price increases
Netflix raised the prices for all of its plans on April 12, 2024. Both new and existing customers are affected by the price hike. Existing users will pay the higher prices one month after they have been informed of the price increase by e-mail. Netflix confirmed to moneyland.ch that this is indeed the case.

The price of Netflix has gone up by as much as 62 percent
It has not even been ten years since Netflix launched in Switzerland, but Netflix and other streaming services have already become well-established. Disney Plus and Amazon Prime Video are also popular in Switzerland.
Table 2 shows how the prices of Netflix plans have developed since Netflix first launched in Switzerland.

Since Netflix launched in September 2014, two of its plans have gotten massively more expensive. The price of the Standard plan went up by eight francs per month or 62 percent. The Premium plan now costs 10 francs more per month, or 56 percent. Only the Basic plan shows a relatively modest price increase, costing just one franc per month or eight percent more than when Netflix launched.
The price of the Standard plan has been raised five times since Netflix launched in September 2014. The price tag of the Premium plan has been raised four times. However, this is the first time that Netflix has raised the fee for its Basic plan since its launch.
Price comparison with other video streaming services
A comparison with other streaming services shows that Netflix is the most expensive streaming service in Switzerland. It is worth noting that Sky is planning to change its prices in May 2024.
