Order-on-Event Order

An order-on-event order is a securities trading order for which investors can select an event as a trigger.

Events which can serve as triggers include rates of a specific future or security reaching a predetermined price, surpassing a predetermined limit, or falling below a predetermined limit.

If and when the event occurs, a buy order or sell order is triggered. The broker fills this order on behalf of the investor.
