The Bolsa de Valores de Panamá (BVPA) is a stock exchange located in the central American financial hub of Panama City. The exchange lists around 200 companies, and facilitates trades in a broad range of financial instruments.
Contracts traded on the Panama Stock Exchange include shares (common shares, preferred shares, cumulative preference stocks), bonds, notes, funds, and treasury bills. The exchange is supervised and regulated by the securities exchange supervisory commission of Panama and is a member of the Federación Iberoamericana de Bolsa (FIAB), an association which includes Spain’s Madrid Stock Exchange, Portugal’s Euronext Lisbon exchange and Brazil’s BM&F Bovespa, among others. More than 30 brokerage firms participate in the exchange.
The BVPSI index tracks the performance of stocks listed on the exchange.
