Credit card issuer Viseca already supports Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Fitbit Pay, SwatchPAY! and Garmin Pay. Now Google Pay is being added to the lineup of mobile wallets which can be used with Viseca credit cards.
Which Viseca cards support Google Pay?
In principle, all Viseca credit cards and prepaid cards are technically enabled for use with Google Pay. This also applies to the Debit Mastercard and Mastercard Flex debit cards.
However, banks for which Viseca issues credit cards can choose whether or not to support mobile wallets. This means that the cards offered by many – but not all – regional and cantonal banks now support Google Pay. Banks whose cards now support Google Pay include Bank Cler, Migros Bank, Valiant and some Clientis and cantonal Banks.
As with Apple Pay, a number of banks have opted out of adding Google Pay support for the time being. These include Viseca partners Aargauische Kantonalbank, Banque Cantonale Vaudoise, Berner Kantonalbank, Raiffeisen and the Zürcher Kantonalbank. Raiffeisen plans to add Apple Pay and Google Pay support later this year.
Credit cards and prepaid cards from other issuers
Other major banks like UBS and PostFinance have chosen to back Swiss mobile wallet Twint rather than supporting Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Card issuers Cembra Money Bank and Swisscard have also abstained from partnerships with Google.
Bonuscard, Cornèrcard and Swiss Bankers already support Google Pay.
Google Pay support from app-based banking services
A number of popular app-based banking services support Google Pay. Cards from both Revolut and TransferWise can be used with Google Pay. Swiss app-based banking service Neon does not currently support Google Pay. The Viseca-issued credit cards which comes with Bank Cler’s Zak app-based banking service now supports Google Pay
