Independent online comparison service moneyland.ch conducted a representative online survey in March, 2023 to find out which credit cards and prepaid cards Swiss consumers use, and how satisfied they are with them. The moneyland.ch survey included a total of 1538 residents between the ages of 18 and 74 across French- and German-speaking Switzerland.
Customers are least satisfied with the value for money
Satisfaction among Swiss credit card users varies across different aspects of credit card use, but the differences are small. Cardholders are most satisfied with the friendliness of customer service employees, the helpfulness of employees, and the clarity of documents (8.1 out of 10 points each, rounded). They are slightly less satisfied with the value for money ratio (8 out of 10 points). But with an overall weighted average of 8.2 out of 10 points, customers satisfaction with Swiss credit cards is surprisingly high.
These are the credit cards with the highest satisfaction ratings
Of the conventional Swiss credit cards, Swissquote and the Migros Cumulus Visa (from Migros Bank) have the highest ratings this year, at 8.4 out of 10 points each. They are followed by the American Express cards (from Swisscard), other credit cards from Migros Bank, credit cards from Raiffeisen, and the Ikea credit card (from Cembra Money Bank), each with 8.3 out of 10 points.
Other cards which received high customer satisfaction ratings are the Cashback credit cards from Swisscard, and the many credit cards issued by Cornèrcard and the Cembra Money Bank, with 8.2 points each. The Coop credit card (from Topcard), other credit cards from Swisscard, Credit Suisse credit cards, and credit cards from cantonal banks trail close behind with ratings of 8.1 points each.

Customer satisfaction with neobank cards high
App-based banks are gaining popularity, especially among younger residents. The card from Revolut is used by 8 percent of young adults between the ages of 18 and 25. The Swiss neobank Neon is used by 5 percent of participants. Residents above the age of 50 are less likely to use app-based accounts. Only 3 percent of adults aged 50 to 74 use Revolut.
Customers of neobanks show high levels of satisfaction – notably higher than those among users of conventional credit cards. All neobank cards received excellent ratings. Zak, the app-based account from Bank Cler, takes the lead with a rating of 8.7 out of 10 points. It is followed by Neon (8.6 points), Wise (8.4 points), Yuh, and Revolut (8.3 points each).
Revolut’s high customer satisfaction ratings are surprising, because its poor customer service has regularly made headlines. On the other hand, customers only need to use customer support when problems arise. “If all customers had already made use of customer support, the ratings for Revolut cards would likely be lower,” believes moneyland.ch CEO Benjamin Manz.
These are the most popular credit cards
The most widely-used credit cards in Switzerland are those issued by Postfinance, according to the survey. Around 21 percent of survey participants hold a Postfinance credit card. Similarly popular credit cards include those from cantonal banks (20 percent) and UBS (19 percent), followed by Raiffeisen (17 percent).
