Lessor

A lessor is a person or entity which gives another person or entity (the lessee) the right to make use of their property as defined in a lease agreement. Typically, lessors charge lessees a fee for this right to use their property.

For example, when you rent a home from a landlord, the landlord is the lessor and you are the lessee. They grant you the right to use their property as long as you pay rent (lease payments) as per your rental agreement.

In Switzerland, the term leasing is primarily used in relation to car leasing. In this arrangement, a lease agreement gives you as the lessee the right to use a vehicle belonging to another entity (the lessor). The lessor in this case is normally a bank or a specialized lease service provider. Typically, car lessors charge lessees leasing fees for the use of their vehicles.
