On July 4, 2022, Digital Republic and Teleboy changed their rates for making calls while roaming in Europe to 50 centimes per minute. Previously, customers of these mobile services paid one franc per minute for outgoing roaming calls, and 75 centimes per minute for incoming calls. So making calls while roaming is now 50 percent cheaper, and receiving calls now costs 33 percent less.
Calls made from their roaming region 2 (which includes countries like Albania, Serbia, and Macedonia) cost 1.50 francs per minute. In region 3, which covers many countries around the world, you pay 3 francs per minute. The per-minute price of making roaming calls with Digital Republic and Teleboy are 50 centimes (region 2) and 1 franc (region 3) cheaper than the previous fees.
The new prices also apply to international phone calls from Switzerland to other countries.
A comparison of mobile roaming costs for the 2022 summer holidays shows that the Digital Republic and Teleboy are now significantly cheaper, sitting just above midfield in the cost comparison. The total cost of using 6000 megabytes of roaming data and making 120 minutes of roaming calls in one year is now 120 francs, down from 170 francs with the previous fees. The cheapest telecom services for this profile have total costs of under 100 francs. For the summer holidays profile – which assumes 1000 megabytes of data and 120 minutes of calling while traveling – Digital Republic and Teleboy are now significantly cheaper. Total costs for that profile are 70 francs, down from 120 francs with the previous fees. But both service providers are still twice as expensive as the cheapest mobile services for this profile.
