Conclusion by telecom expert Ralf Beyeler
“Swisscom is once again trying to launch a video library,” says moneyland.ch telecom expert Ralf Beyeler. This time, it is giving its customers free access. But when you look a little closer, you see that customers have to pay at least 90 francs per month for the home Internet and TV plans required. That is relatively costly compared to offers from competitors.
Beyeler is convinced that Swisscom’s offer will not be able to take a bit out of streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video. “blue Play is a goodie with which Swisscom is rewarding customers who use its most expensive plans.”
A large portion of the videos offered are not exclusive content. “Many of the movies and series can be found online – in the media libraries of TV broadcasters, for example.” But blue Play does have some exclusive content which has not yet been offered in Switzerland, such as the series The North Water.
