Rabattcorner: Save Money on Every Purchase

December 5, 2024

Phil Grieder, CEO of Rabattcorner, explains Rabattcorner’s cash back offers and gives insights into discounts that are trending in Switzerland.

Which discounts and cash back offers are currently in trend?

Phil Grieder: Travel is the most popular category, by far. That is understandable because travel purchases tend to involve large amounts of money, so the cash back savings are exceptionally large. Foreign merchants like Temu and Ali Express are also becoming more and more popular, with figures showing massive growth. Additionally, the fashion category continues to perform well – partly due to the presence of strong brands like Lounge by Zalando, About You, and H&M on our platform.

How exactly does Rabattcorner work?

Rabattcorner receives a sales commission for each online purchase made through our platform. We give more than half of the sales commissions back to our users. That benefits both our customers, who save money when shopping online, and our partner merchants, who are able to reach new customers.

Rabattcorner is clear and simple for users. You do not earn reward points that you then have to redeem. Instead, you earn cash back for each purchase. The cash back is credited to your account the next working day. The Rabattcorner browser extension alerts users about the chance to earn cash back when they visit eligible online stores. That helps you avoid missing out on cash back.

The best part is, Rabattcorner does not charge users any fees to open and use accounts.

How much cashback can I earn?

The cash back rate, as a percentage, is not always the deciding factor. If you spend 2500 francs on travel and get 3 percent cash back, that saves you a lot more money than if you were to get 25 percent cash back for a small purchase. But we still regularly have very attractive cash back offers, with up to 10 percent cash back for hotel bookings, for example.

Our customers are not looking for just one unbeatable deal. Instead, they appreciate the chance to earn cash back for every purchase. That enables them to accumulate up to several hundred francs per year – a boon to any wallet at a time of constantly climbing costs.

How did the idea for Rabattcorner come about?

Rabattcorner’s founders, Alban Grossenbacher and Dominik Lämmler, first came across the concept of cash back in the United Kingdom in 2012. They were immediately convinced that the same principle could be successful in Switzerland too. At the time, hardly any Swiss consumers had ever heard of the concept. The company continued to grow each year, to where we are now the market leaders.

Have the discounts changed since Rabattcorner was founded?

At first, Rabattcorner was so small that we had to fight for each deal. We were happy to be able to offer users any amount of cashback at all. But that has changed as we have grown. Today, we can deal with our partner merchants as equals and negotiate attractive discounts for our users.

How many offers are available on Rabattcorner today?

A lot has happened since our founding 10 years ago. Rabattcorner is now Switzerland’s leading cash back platform. We now partner with over 800 online stores, including established brands like SWISS, Ebookers, Hotels.com, Lounge by Zalando, About You, Jumbo, Just Eat, Manor, Media Markt, and Orell Füssli.

How much money could I save by using Rabattcorner?

We pay out more than 700,000 francs per year to our users as cash back. That comes to an average of several hundred francs per user. The current record held by a customer is more than 5000 francs saved.

We have many users that use Rabattcorner for all of their online shopping, making more than 500 transactions per year. The satisfaction of our customers is apparent in our ratings. We have received more than 2000 ratings across all of our platforms, with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.
