Fannie Mae Home Purchase Sentiment Index (HPSI)

The Fannie Mae Home Purchase Sentiment Index (HPSI) tracks U.S. consumer sentiment in relation to home purchases. It is an important indicator of the prospective value of U.S. real estate investments.

This index is a useful indicator of trends in the U.S. real estate sector. A high index rating indicates high interest in owning private homes among U.S. consumers and subsequently the demand for U.S. real estate. A low index rating indicates lower interest in home ownership and subsequently a trend towards weaker demand in the U.S. real estate market.

In Switzerland, real estate buyer sentiment is tracked by the SWX IAZI Private House Price Index, the SWX IAZI Private Real Estate Price Index, the SWX IAZI Investment Real Estate Price Index, the SWX IAZI Condominium Price Index, the SWX Immobilienfonds Index and the SWX IAZI Real Estate Performance Index.
